The Norns are the three powerful beings who control the destiny of all living things. Urd (the past), Verdandi (the present), and Skuld (the future) sit at the Well of Fate beneath Yggdrasil, weaving the threads of all lives.
Not even the gods can escape the fate the Norns decree. They water the World Tree daily and carve the destinies of gods and mortals into its bark. Their power predates the gods themselves.
They represent the inescapable nature of fate, the connection between past, present, and future, and the fundamental truth that all things have their appointed time.

When a child is born, the Norns arrive to decree its fate. They spin the thread of life, measure it, and cut it when the time comes. Even Odin, who gained wisdom from Mimir's well, cannot change what the Norns have woven.
