About

Ma'at is the goddess who personifies truth, justice, balance, and cosmic order. She represents the fundamental principle that governs all creation—the harmony that allows existence itself to continue.

Her feather is used in the weighing of the heart ceremony, where the deceased's heart is measured against it. Only hearts lighter than Ma'at's feather may pass into the afterlife; those found wanting are devoured.

Ma'at represents the universal law that transcends even the gods, the principle that right conduct and truth are the foundations of existence.

Famous Story

In the Hall of Two Truths, Anubis places the heart of the deceased on one side of the scales and Ma'at's feather on the other. If the heart, heavy with sin, outweighs the feather, the monster Ammit devours it. The just heart passes to eternal life.

If You Match
