Personality Traits

Vigilant Loyal All-seeing Steadfast Guardian

About

Heimdall is the ever-vigilant guardian of Bifröst, the rainbow bridge connecting Asgard to the other realms. Born of nine mothers (the nine waves), he possesses senses so keen he can hear grass growing and see for hundreds of leagues in any direction.

He requires less sleep than a bird and can see equally well by night as by day. His golden teeth gleam, and he bears the Gjallarhorn, the great horn whose blast will signal the beginning of Ragnarök when the enemies of the gods finally march.

Heimdall stands eternal watch at the border of Asgard, the first line of defense against any threat. His vigilance never wavers, and his loyalty to the gods is absolute. At Ragnarök, he and Loki are destined to kill each other.

Famous Story

Heimdall once retrieved Freya's necklace Brísingamen when Loki stole it. Both gods transformed into seals to battle in the sea, and Heimdall proved victorious. This enmity between them will culminate at Ragnarök when they finally destroy each other.
