About

Joan of Arc (1412-1431) was a French peasant girl who, guided by visions of saints, led the French army to crucial victories during the Hundred Years' War. She claimed that Saints Michael, Catherine, and Margaret appeared to her with divine missions.

At just seventeen, Joan convinced the Dauphin Charles to give her an army. She lifted the siege of Orleans, won a string of victories, and escorted Charles to his coronation at Reims. Her presence transformed a demoralized army into victorious warriors.

Captured by the English, Joan was tried for heresy and burned at the stake at age nineteen. Twenty-five years later, she was declared innocent, and in 1920, she was canonized as a saint. She represents courage, faith, and the power of conviction against all odds.

Famous Story

When asked at her trial whether she was in God's grace, Joan gave her famous answer: 'If I am not, may God put me there; if I am, may God keep me there.' Even facing death, her faith never wavered.
