About

The Virgin Mary, also known as the Blessed Virgin or Our Lady, is the mother of Jesus Christ in Christian tradition. She is venerated as the greatest of all saints and holds a unique position in Christianity as Theotokos—the God-bearer.

According to the Gospels, Mary was a young Jewish woman from Nazareth chosen by God to bear His son. Through the Annunciation, the angel Gabriel informed her of her divine role, and she accepted with the words "Let it be done unto me according to your word."

Mary represents perfect faith, humility, and maternal love. She stood at the foot of the cross during her son's crucifixion and was present with the apostles at Pentecost. Throughout Christian history, countless believers have turned to her as intercessor and mother of all Christians.

Famous Story

When the wine ran out at the wedding at Cana, Mary approached Jesus saying 'They have no wine.' Though His hour had not yet come, Jesus performed His first miracle at His mother's request, turning water into the finest wine.
