About

Solomon, son of David, is renowned as the wisest person who ever lived. When God offered him anything he desired, Solomon asked only for wisdom to govern his people—and God granted him wisdom beyond any other, along with riches and honor.

His reign was Israel's golden age: he built the magnificent Temple in Jerusalem, authored thousands of proverbs and songs, and his wisdom drew visitors from across the known world, including the Queen of Sheba.

Yet Solomon's story also warns of wisdom's limits—his many foreign wives turned his heart toward their gods, and his kingdom would split after his death. He represents both the heights wisdom can reach and the dangers of straying from it.

Famous Story

Two women claimed the same baby. Solomon ordered the child cut in half—one woman agreed, but the true mother begged for the child to be given to the other woman rather than killed. Solomon immediately gave her the baby, for her love proved her claim.
