About

Ruth was a Moabite woman who, after her Hebrew husband died, chose to leave her homeland and follow her mother-in-law Naomi back to Israel. Her famous declaration of loyalty—'Where you go I will go'—is one of the Bible's most beautiful expressions of devotion.

Though a foreigner with nothing, Ruth's faithful hard work in the fields of Boaz caught his attention. Her story became one of redemption and blessing—she married Boaz and became the great-grandmother of King David.

Ruth represents faithful love across all boundaries—the choice to stay loyal when leaving would be easier, the reward of humble diligence, and God's grace that includes outsiders in the covenant story.

Famous Story

Naomi told Ruth to return to Moab, but Ruth refused: 'Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.' Her loyalty led her to Israel, to Boaz, and into the lineage of the Messiah.
