Eros is the god of love, desire, and attraction, whose golden arrows can make any being fall helplessly in love. In some myths, he is a primordial god as old as creation itself; in others, he is the mischievous son of Aphrodite.

Eros fell in love with the mortal Psyche but could only visit her in darkness. When she disobeyed and saw his face by lamplight, he fled. Only after Psyche completed impossible tasks set by Aphrodite was she reunited with Eros and made immortal.
